Breast reconstruction surgery after cancer disease
Breast reconstruction after mastectomy is performed either immediately after the surgery of a tumor. The patient then avoids psychic impacts from the loss of breast. The second case is a surgery with a time interval depending on the subsequent oncology treatment, mostly within two years after tumor removal. Nowadays, there are mostly used silicone implants for breast reconstruction. The implants and the own tissue form usually basic material of the reconstructed breast. After implant placement an areola and a nipple is reconstructed in the time interval of 3 months. Often there is also used a method of breast augmentation with the help of own tissue, mostly from abdominal wall. Possible complications are usually associated with the patient's state and the used method of breast reconstruction.
